The Tomoka Gem & Mineral Society is a member of the Southeast Federation of Mineralogical Societies and the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.

The Society:

· Promotes the study and collecting of rocks, gems, minerals and fossils.

· Promotes interest in the Lapiday Arts (Stone cutting, both cabochon and faceting).

· Promotes interest in Jewelry Crafts including:  Silversmithing, Goldsmithing, Wire wrapping, casting and bead stringing.

The purpose of the club and the annual show is to foster interest and promote knowledge and appreciation of rocks, gems, minerals, fossils and earth sciences as well as encourage interest in the lapidary arts and jewelry making.

We hope to create more interest in the exciting hobby of collecting and working with semi-precious and precious stones, by teaching arts of cabochoning and faceting, transforming the stones from a rough to finished form.  We also aim to teach skills in Silver and Goldsmithing, casting, beading and wire wrapping to enhance and show the finishes gems.

The clubs meets monthly with members or guests presenting programs including: demonstrations, videos and discussions pertaining to all aspects of the lapidary arts.  The club also conducts field trips for education, collecting and fun.

Membership in the Tomoka Gem and Mineral Society entitles members to attend workshops classes at schools affiliated with the Federation of Gem Clubs.  (Juniors are welcome).

You are invited to attend a monthly meeting and discover this wonderful hobby.  You will learn to identify minerals, fossils and gems.

So come and join us, make some new friends who share the same interests and attend a workshop or two – maybe even join us on a field trip.
