The Tomoka Gem & Mineral Society (TGMS) is a group of individuals who share an interest in rocks, minerals, gems, earth sciences and the lapidary arts. The society was formed in 1964 as a non-profit organization and incorporated in 1966. The purpose of the society is to promote knowledge and interest in the earth sciences, lapidary arts and jewelry design. Due to the interests and skills of the members, there is a heavy focus on lapidary arts and jewelry making.
